Listing of common terms used in the environmental sustainability space and throughout this website.

Layer of tree cover in an urban area, typically around 10–20% coverage, that helps to clean the air, manage stormwater, and reduce ground-level heat.

Process of using worms to break down organic matter (especially food scraps) into compost more quickly than conventional composting.

"Aspirational" recycling, when well-intentioned people recycle ineligible items like coffee cups and plastic shopping bags because they wish it were recyclable, leading to contamination of the recycling stream.
